HOW DID I END UP HERE? 

When I was in my late 30’s I began to slowly gain weight, so slowly that at first I really didn’t notice. Around the same time, I started getting tired in the afternoons, needing a nap or a cup of coffee by 4 in the afternoon… and the worst of all, I could feel myself becoming more and more irritable.  I began to think that this was inevitable. I had two small children and my body was beginning to age. 

But I was wrong. Weight gain wasn’t inevitable and I didn’t need to feel tired, cranky, sluggish and old. When I later went back to school to become certified in integrative nutrition, I discovered that many of the foods I was eating were no longer working for my body. By becoming aware of how my body responded to food, I was able to easily drop unnecessary weight, increase my energy, and become a happier, more even-tempered person.  

And now, I want to share this process with you!

WHAT EXACTLY IS A REBOOT?

Nourished Body and Mind’s Spring Reboot is a 100% plant-based, whole food plan that lasts for two weeks. The whole purpose behind a dietary reboot is to clear from your system whatever foods may be holding you back physically. Some foods unknowingly wreak havoc with our bodies, and we are left waging war without even realizing. 

If you put the wrong fuel in your car, it sputters and complains. You need to flush out the engine to rid the car of the “toxins” that harm its performance. Once the engine is flushed, you refuel with the correct formula and your car is back to running, good as new. 

Your body doesn’t work all that differently. When you give it the wrong fuel, it also backfires and breaks down. You might be used to carrying around extra weight, or being cranky and fatigued. During that time, I will provide you with a very easy meal plan to follow (no crazy, hard-to-find ingredients required, no juicing required either), with recipes and shopping lists included for each week. This whole food reboot is designed to remove all of the foods likely to cause allergies or sensitivity. No alcohol, caffeine, or refined sugar is welcome during the reboot; we’ll also eliminate dairy. Removing these substances offers the body a chance to literally detoxify, meaning it can clear out substances that cause inflammation. This gives your body a chance to release weight it might be holding, as well as joint pain, headaches, brain fog and lethargy. Once the reboot is complete, you can add foods back slowly to see how your body responds. If you start to see your old symptoms return when you resume eating certain foods, you will have discovered what foods are sabotaging your weight loss and lifestyle success!

Through this program I was able to identify and remove foods I am sensitive to.

After retiring about a year ago, I went on “vacation” mode. Although I got lots of exercise in my favorite sports, I was in a party mode and eating more snacks and social drinking. I gained weight. I decided I wanted to lose the weight and did make some changes on my own, but over time, my weight plateaued.

Through this program I was able to identify and remove foods I am sensitive to, look at problem eating patterns more objectively and accelerate my weight loss. In addition, my joint pain and bloating went away. I am less sluggish in the morning and in general look and feel better.

I really liked having a plan to get past my resistance to change some of my unhealthy habits. This, along with being able to check-in made me feel committed. I loved that I received detailed well-organized handouts of our training sessions, so I could review the materials as needed. I received positive reinforcement, which is different than plans I have been on in the past, and that worked very well for me.
