When I want to be self-indulgent, I reach for that most decadent of all flavors… chocolate. ? Not only is chocolate delicious, in reasonable quantities it can be really good for you, too! Dark chocolate actually contains antioxidants that have been shown to lower blood pressure, balance the immune system and even improve brain function! ?

One of my favorite ways to express love is by creating delicious, healthy, beautiful food. And because you mean so much to me… I came up with this crowd pleasing, decadent, surprisingly healthy Spiced Chocolate “Hummus” especially for you!

Pair it with fresh fruit, salty pretzels, or use it as a spread on toast… I love it and hope you do, too!

Spiced Chocolate "Hummus"

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans drained
  • 1/3 cup cacao powder raw
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, leave out if you prefer no heat)

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth and creamy.

Notes

Serve immediately with fresh fruit, crackers, pretzels or use as a spread on toast! Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to a week.

  1. I was skeptical of the chocolate hummus until I saw the recipe for black beans. I have the beans and will get the cacao powder. I am sure it will be tasty and healthy and will try it this weekend. Thanks for the idea of pampering me!
