Healthy Hot Chocolate
Do you ❤ chocolate?
I know I do! In my family, we are so hooked on dark chocolate that we have a “chocolate drawer” in our kitchen! Truth!!!
And because I am all about how to nourish our bodies and minds, I thought I should share a few chocolate facts so that you, too, can enjoy this miraculously yummy food without even a trace of guilt!
My recipes call specifically for raw cacao. Raw cacao powder is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. This process keeps the living enzymes in the cocoa and removes the fat.
❤ Has 40 times the number of antioxidants as blueberries!
❤ Provides the highest available plant-based source of iron, and iron absorption is enhanced by combining with vitamin C found in foods such as oranges, kiwi, or even super foods like camu camu, which you can enjoy in my family’s favorite, most decadent chocolate orange pudding.
❤ Has more calcium than cow’s milk.
❤ Is a natural mood elevator and anti-depressant! A proven source of bliss or love chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, raw cacao can be associated with cozy warm feelings of happiness and well-being, and can even alleviate depression. Try this new Healthy, Hot Chocolate for even more cozy warmth.
❤ High in magnesium, which is important for a healthy heart and brain, and helps you turn glucose into energy.
